Online Dating

Newly Single

It’s been two months since you’ve separated, your friends are after you to start dating. You’re thinking, HELLS NO! This life’s the bomb. I have no one looking over my shoulder, no one to answer to, no one making a mess, no one lipping me off… I’m not dating EVER again.

Time to consider dating?

Fast forward a year. Your kiddos are at their dad’s half time, the house is so quiet you could hear a pin drop, most of your single friends aren’t single anymore. CRAP! Is this real life? How does this dating stuff work anyway? You pick up your computer and google dating for divorced adults with children…. Searching, searching…. ONLINE DATING? WTF!

Online Dating Options …Endless?

A ton of different sites options pop up. The choices are endless. Who would have known that there were so many possibilities. HA! (Keep reading) A potential partner with any education level single? A perfect match with a Silver single? A long-term relationship with a truly compatible single? A meaningful connection with any ethnicity? Even hookups ? Naughty single seeking serious relationship? Dating pool available for your choosing? Intersex relationship? LGBTQ Singles? Amazing! Thanks internet!

The New Way of Dating?

Apparently, internet dating was the new ‘in real life’ way of matchmaking. Good Lord, I was just starting to get used to new hobbies like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Linkedin. Browsing online dating services literally could make for a full time job. There are so many of them. I had no idea that the dating scene and basically everyone’s love life now laid in the hands of the trust of the most popular dating apps. We were essentially relying on these online dating websites abilities to form a compatibility match between two people from a virtual dating algorithm. Wild!!! And… With a paid subscription for this service! That’s right, you could opt for a three-month plan, all the way up to the yearly extended plan, if you so chose.

Where does one even begin on this magical journey of what seems like an absolute unimaginable gift from the heavens? Did I need to have my mental health evaluated? This was the new accepted way of dating, right?

Step 1. Sign up. Wow, This site says it’s free. I like free. Let’s do this!

Step two. Name. Well, I’m clearly NOT putting in my real name. Monica.

Step three. Profile. Describe your physical appearance. Also, write a short biography describing who you are to the viewers. Hahaha. Or… do the best possible sales pitch of yourself. “Hi, I’m Monica, I am a successful rocket scientist by day, supermodel by night. I love giving massages, cooking, and cleaning. Love my children and am sure to love yours too. Please choose me!!!” How’s that?

Step four. Personality test. Hahahaha!

Have Fun, But Stay Cautious..

Ok, all joking aside, online dating seems to be the new means of meeting singles. I am not going to lie. Gave it a go. Have met some kind individuals and some very interesting ones as well. A lot of cat-fishers out there, which really boggles my mind. Why misrepresent yourself? You know that in the end, your true identity is going to be revealed. Most people are not going to be overly accepting of your deception. Don’t you think that these people would have more success in revealing who their true identity is from the beginning? Perhaps their wonderful personalities would overshadow any physical flaws they felt the need to conceal.

It is definitely a crapshoot to say the least, putting yourself out there on this world wide web of dating. I would love to hear some good, bad, and ugly stories that have come as a result of this form of meeting. I definitely have a few of my own stories that I will share. Also, Preferred dating sites vs least favourite sites. Stay tuned.

5 Tips To Help You Navigate The World Of Online Dating:

1. Don’t take everything at face value.

When you’re talking to someone online, it’s easy to get caught up in the fantasy of who they are rather than who they really are. Remember that people can easily misrepresent themselves online, so don’t take everything at face value and be sure to get to

know someone before you meet them in person. There are a lot of fake profiles and cat-fishers on online dating sites.

2. Keep your personal information private.

Be careful about sharing too much personal information with someone you’ve only just met online. You never know who they might be or what their intentions are, so it’s best to err on the side of caution and keep your information to yourself until you’re sure you can trust them.

3. Don’t meet up with anyone without first vetting them thoroughly.

Meeting someone in person who you’ve only been talking to online can be dangerous, so it’s important to make sure you know as much about them as possible before meeting up. Be sure to do a Google search on their name and check out their social media profiles to get a better sense of who they are.

4. Meet in a public place for your first date.

When meeting someone from online dating for the first time, it’s important to meet in a public place where there are other people around in case things go wrong. This will help you feel safer and will also give you an opportunity to see how they act in person.

5. Be honest about who you are and what you’re looking for.

When creating your online dating profile, be honest about who you are and what you ‘re looking for with a potential match. Don’t try to be someone you’re not, and don’t lie about your intentions. Be upfront and honest from the start, and you’ll be more likely to attract the right kind of people.

Why did you decide to research online dating?

I decided to research online dating because of the growing popularity and prevalence of digital dating in our society today. With more and more people turning to technology-based solutions for their romantic needs, I wanted to understand how this trend was impacting our culture, relationships, and love lives. In my research, I found that online dating can be a powerful tool for connecting with potential partners, but it can also come with its own set of risks and challenges. I wanted to explore these topics further and help spread awareness on the implications of online dating.

How do you find someone to date online?

Finding someone to date online can be a great way to meet new people, expand your network, and potentially find a special someone. To get started, create an online dating profile that accurately reflects who you are and what you are looking for. Make sure to include recent photos and honest information about yourself, such as your likes, dislikes, and interests. After creating your profile, start browsing the profiles of other singles in your area. If you come across someone that catches your eye, send them a message to introduce yourself. Keep the conversation going by asking questions about their life and interests. If things go well, take the relationship offline by arranging a video chat or even an in-person meeting. With patience and openness, you can find someone special online who shares your values and interests!

What is the most effective online dating site?

The most effective online dating site will depend on the individual and their preferences. Some popular sites include Match, eHarmony, Zoosk, and OkCupid. Each of these sites has its own unique features that can help you find a compatible match. For example, Match offers a detailed questionnaire to help you find matches who share your values and interests, while eHarmony is known for its personality-based matching system. It is important to do your research and read reviews of each site before deciding which one to use. Additionally, it is wise to set up a profile on multiple sites so that you have more options when searching for someone special.

What are the negative effects of online dating?

The negative effects of online dating can include a sense of isolation, frustration with the process, and even personal safety concerns. While online dating can be a great way to meet potential partners, it has its risks.

One of the biggest dangers is the risk of developing an addiction or false sense of attachment to online dating. This can lead to spending too much time on the platform and not enough time engaging in real-life socializing. Additionally, there is always a risk of being scammed or taken advantage of by someone you meet through an online platform.

Finally, online dating can be emotionally draining due to the amount of effort and time that goes into creating a profile and interacting with potential matches. It’s also important to consider how online dating may affect your mental health and wellbeing if it becomes a source of stress or anxiety for you.

Here are some of the online dating apps that I came across. A lot of them are also available in mobile apps:
